Glossary Terms

Ash Catcher: An ash catcher is an external piece connected to the water pipe to prevent ash and tar from getting into the water pipe.  Most ash catchers are either male or female joint. 

Banger: Banger is a separate piece use to extract compounds from concentrates.  Most bangers are made of quartz and can handle high temperature heating from torch.  Usually come in male or female joints. 

Beaker Bong: A beaker bong is a classic flask base water pipe use for smoking flower.  Most beakers have a 45 degree female joint and requires a separate downstem and bowl.  

Borosilicate: Borosilicate is a type of glass that can withheld high temperature heat without breaking.  Typically use in scientific laboratory equipment. 

Bowl: A bowl is a removable glass accessory use to hold flower when smoking in a water pipe.  

Bubbler Pipe: A bubbler pipe is a portable version of a water bong.  It has a built in diffuse chamber to hold water at the bottom of the pipe to filter smoke. 

Carb: A carb is a hole in a pipe that allows the chamber to clear airflow of smoke when you let go and inhale. 

Colored Glass: Colored glass features color accents on glass to add more character to the appearance of glass. 

Dab: The term dab is referring to a method to consume concentrate in which individuals use a torch to smoke extraction from concentrate. 

Downstem: A downstem is a diffuse adaptor use to attached a bowl piece and filters smoke through the water pipe. 

Fixed Downstem: A fixed downstem is a permanent stem attached on the water pipe.  

Grinder:  A grinder is an equipment use to break down herbal substance into smaller piece for consumption. 

Hand Pipe: A hand pipe is a smoking device use to consume herbal substance.  

Heady Glass: Heady glass features a unique design water pipe.  Heady glass are typically one of a kind and features unique material and patterns. 

Hammer Bubbler: A hammer bubbler features a shape of a hammer.  Hammer bubblers are unique because it sits flat like a traditional hand pipe but with a built in diffuse chamber of a bubbler.  

Honeycomb Perc: Honeycomb perc is a disc percolator that has many diffusion points.  With many holes on the disc perc it filters smoke through the water pipe very efficiently.  

Ice Catcher:  An ice catcher is a hole pinch spot on the upper neck of a water pipe.  It allows users to put ice cubes in the bong while not falling and filters smoke.  

Female Joint: A female joint is an inward joint attached to a water pipe.  It requires an male bowl or banger to connect. 

Male Joint: A male joint is an outward joint attached to a water pipe.  It requires an female bowl or banger to connect.  

14mm Joint: A joint that requires a 14mm bowl piece. 

18mm Joint: A joint that requires a 18mm bowl piece.

Matrix Perc: A matrix perc is a tire shape percolator inside a water pipe use to filter smoke through water. 

Nail: A nail is an smoking accessory attached to a rig use to extract compounds from concentrates.  

Percolator: A percolator is a water pipe component use to filter smoke through water. 

Scientific Glass: Scientific glass is typically referring to high temperature resistant laboratory grade material use for scientific equipment. 

Tree Perc: A tree perc is a percolator use to filter smoke through a water pipe.  Tree percs typically come in 6, 8 or 10 arm percs with slits at the bottom of the tree arms. 

Turbine Perc: A turbine perc is a disc percolator in the shape of a turbine use to filter smoke through a water pipe. 

Vaporizer: A vaporizer is a electronic smoking device use to extract compounds in high temperature. 

Water pipe: A water pipe is a smoke filtration device use to consume herbal substance through filtering smoke through water.
